I spent nearly 20 years replacing Intermatic Malibu lights which at best would last 5 years. For about the same price, these lights appear to be made much better in several ways. Bolts are used to screw the top onto the base instead of directly onto the plastic lens. With the Malibus, either the lens breaks from the pressure of the top, or the top blows off down the street. The connector box is well designed to make a good water tight connection. With the Malibus you have to squeeze real hard with your thumbs, but you can use a screwdriver on these to force the prongs into the wire. 2 Year Update: These lights have held up very well, however when I ordered additional lights I was disappointed to find that they have replaced the connector box with a contraption similar to the Malibus that you have to squeeze around the supply wire.
