This is one sensational floor lamp. The instructions for assembly need rewriting, however. One part, which comes preassembled, doesn't say it is preassembled so the person putting it together has no way of knowing what's wrong. I, who have assembled huge pieces of furniture, along with the typical IKEA items many struggle with, thought that two units were missing from the shipment. When I received the "missing" pieces a few days later I could not finish the assembly. I stared at it, took part of it apart, again, and then realized that the instructions had failed to mention that the nickel art deco "ring shaped" part they call the "socket" was already screwed together. Once I disassembled that part all the other pieces fit together perfectly. But if I had not continued trying to figure it out the assembly would have been impossible. When finished, this lamp is beyond beautiful if you like Art Deco style or Modernistic fixtures. I just love this lamp. I am tempted to get another. Is this worth buying? Absolutely. The photograph does not do it justice. It's more beautiful than the picture. And it is environmentally good. Normally $99.97 at costco when not on sale but either way, you don't pay $3xx for this. I just got it for $59.97 just today. This light is very solid and high quality. The packing box is huge but 98% of it are spacer to protect the light. The base is very heavy but yet, very easy to assemble. There are just 2 nuts for the base and 2 nuts for the metal-arm that connects to the lower wood arm. The entire unit look gorgeous. The only thing I can say is the color of the blub is a little too warm. But that's just personal preference. I will give it a 5-star still. I also think the shade can be done better but with how much I paid for... I'm just being too picky I know. Overall, it is a great light! It's contemporary and stylish. This is a wonderful lamp, but I was dismayed to find that the bulbs have been discontinued all over the Internet. They are available only at Holtkoetter.com. I am keeping the lamps only because tinted replacement windows, better for Arizona than leafy NC, have made my living room dreary and dark. These lamps on either side of the mantel are the perfect cure. I just have to hope that the bulbs will continue to be available. I feel a bit snookered and probably would not have placed the order had I known I would be dependent on one web site for speciality bayonet-based replacement bulbs. I love this lamp! It has the best precision dimmer I've ever experienced built into the base. It's halogen bulb adjusts smoothly from a very bright natural light that's great for reading down to beautiful mood lighting. I own a couple now as I've grown addicted to the quality of the reading light, the precision of the dimmer and its compact size. It was specifically designed for the "aging eye" that needs brighter task lighting but you don't have to have old eyes to appreciate it. The basic purchasing metrics; the lamp was - priced very competitively - shipped in a timely manner - was very well packaged - matched picture and description But, most importantly... This is a quality and stylish lamp that I will treasure for years. It is a real classic in form. The main metal fitting appear to be be bronze (or finished in a manner that would take some real metallurgy knowledge to tell the difference). The legs are constrained together by nicely finished heavy leather straps. The lamp supports a 3-way bulb. The switch mechanism appears to be quality with a nice crisp snap as your rotate it between positions. The wooden legs are uniformly cut and have a nice, clean finish. My local mega-lighting store couldn't do as well and certainly not on the price. Now I'm thinking that this lamp could use a brother or sister from the Authentic Models product line. Time to start saving my pennies. The only thing that a buyer might consider... The lamp is keeping a nice, straight vertical line with the tripod fully extended. This consumes about a 2.5 foot footprint. If you didn't have the space to fully expand the tripod, I don't know if it would keep a vertical or develop a tendency to lean. The center straps are at their "tightest" notch. However, a leather hole punch might be able to open up one more notch for narrowing the tripod stance. However, the cheesey fake story-telling that the manufacturer chooses for a description of their product is annoying. It would be really nice if they just gave the facts (what is the wood? - rosewood, I think. is it bronze? let you know ahead of time that it is a 3-way switch, etc...). this is my Campaign Tripod Floor Lamp reviews

This Italian designed, Hungarian manufactured desk lamp is an order of magnitude better than anything the Mainland Chinese produce. The switch is on the top of the lamp near the hood, the wire is contained, and the heavy base makes it quite stable. The only caveat I can think of is that the finger wheels used to tighten the two joints require a bit of excess pressure to keep the arms from falling with gravity. I imagine this will cease to be noticeable after the finish under the screws has a chance to wear. The socket is at right angles to the shade, so you cannot replace the bulb with an LED spot, so order the LED version if that is what you want. They state a maximum CFL wattage, but I have had no problem with a compact 100 watt equivalent bulb, which throws out plenty of light to read by. The lamp is a bit pricy, but you are paying for good quality, as well as the "designer" status of the lamp. Fun fact: One of these lamps appears in the film "Wanted" with Angelina Jolie. It's in the scene with the Indian woman ammunition expert and is sitting on her desk before she is shot.. this is my Tolomeo Classic Desk Lamp with Base reviews
