After months (years?) of looking for the perfect reading lamp that could also throw indirect light onto the ceiling, we broke down and purchased this Holtkoetter. To say that I had reservations about the price would be an understatement. However, from the moment I started unpacking the box I could tell that this product was a quality level in a class by itself. First of all, it is heavy - really heavy! The base is rock solid and stays put, even if someone bumps into it. Secondly, the sliding controls are on the lamp, not on the floor like so many of the cheaper models. They are easy to reach and they glide oh, so smoothly! I never realized that there could be such a tactile difference in a lamp control... Finally, the light is fantastic - at all levels of brightness. The arms are extremely adjustable. It's everything you could want in a reading/accent lamp.
